Portal Support Stop the Traffik with IBM i2
Bracknell, UK – 4th November 2016 - Portal, a premier IBM Business Partner, has been designing solutions to combat human trafficking and is working with IBM to enhance modern slavery intelligence capturing, analysis and reporting capabilities. Portal will be servicing the IBM Impact Grant for Stop the Traffik, enabling the charity to utilise the industry-leading investigative analytics software, IBM i2. This partnership will greatly enhance Stop the Traffik’s Centre for Intelligence Led Prevention and the impact of the charity’s data collection app - the STOP APP - by providing a common data model with enforcement agencies and other Home Office departments.
The ultimate goal is to eradicate modern slavery through the implementation and sharing of intelligence. Portal and Stop the Traffik believe the best way to achieve this is through a collaborative approach with communities, NGOs, businesses, governments and technology providers.
Stop the Traffik is a global movement of individuals, communities and organisations, fighting to prevent human trafficking around the world. Founded in 2006, the charity seeks to prevent the crime of human trafficking by engaging in:
- Community Empowerment – building the capacity of communities to understand what trafficking is, how it affects them and how they can fight it.
- Global Campaigning – informing consumers and businesses about the existence and impact of trafficking within global supply chains and providing strategies to eradicate it.
- Intelligence Gathering and Knowledge Sharing – gathering and analysing information from individuals and stakeholders on a global level to find out how and where trafficking is taking place. This knowledge is then shared with relevant organisations and agencies to enable effective prevention.
With the successful implementation and use of IBM i2, Stop the Traffik will be able to gather data and knowledge share more efficiently moving forward. The Portal led implementation will ensure IBM i2 is working to its fullest potential to assist the charity with early intervention through intelligence tracking, identification of victims and perpetrators and the analysis of intelligence from disparate sources.
